Chamber Honors Mall at Wellington Green, Armand Professional Services

The Palms West Chamber of Commerce has named the Mall at Wellington Green and Armand Professional Services as winners of its coveted Business of the Year awards for 2007.

In view of the chamber's region and business make-up, two awards are now annually bestowed - one for a business with gross annual sales size of less than $2 million and the other for a business with annual gross sales of $2 million or more. The process for selection is rigorous, including nominations, detailed applications and committee evaluation/selection.

The Mall at Wellington Green, award winner for a business with $2 million or more in annual gross sales: This very visible landmark in the western communities is in fact a super-regional shopping center that attracts customers by providing an exceptional lineup of retailers in a safe, entertaining, one-stop destination environment. Dorian Zimmer-Bordendave, general manager of the Mall, attributes the success of the Mall to its "fostering a rewarding and empowering workplace, striving for excellence and encouraging innovation and teamwork." Its core values, she said, "include community involvement and giving back to the businesses and customers who support us."

Over the next five years, the Mall plans to continue its mission of exceeding customers' expectations by constantly evolving and remaining consistent with their needs and desires. Management of the Mall at Wellington Green understands and appreciates its importance to the community and to the Palms West Chamber of Commerce. The Mall is a trustee of the chamber and Zimmer-Bordendave is a past president and currently sits on the chamber's board of directors. Both she and Marketing Director Rachelle Crain serve on many committees, and the Mall at Wellington Green sponsors the Annual Installation Gala, WestFest, SalsaFest, Taste of the West and numerous other chamber functions.

Understanding the importance of community involvement as they do, the Mall at Wellington Green principals joined the chamber when the facility was still under construction and have been very active ever since. No question about it - the Mall at Wellington Green serves as a Business of the Year role model.

Armand Professional Services, award winner for a business with less than $2 million in annual gross sales: This full-service company has concentrated its efforts in the last few years to expand its array of service to now include everything from pest control, lawn care and fertilization, and termite control to lawn maintenance, landscape design and installation, sod, rock and mulch installation, rock walls and water features, as well as customized services such as house-sitting and emergency shutter services.

 

The Armand family, Scott, Mair and Mike, take pride in both the firm's ability to consistently add complementary services for their customers and their passionate emphasis on customer service to a diverse client base. They attribute the company's success to a family understanding of the dedication and perseverance required to grow and cultivate a small business. And they remain highly enthusiastic about the firm's evolution. Perhaps Scott Armand's comment that "it's a 24/7 job we all relish" says it all.

Over the next five years, the Armands see their company as a dominant industry player with countywide visibility. It has been a conscious decision to be more involved with the community. A Chamber Trustee, Scott Armand also sits on the Board of Directors and is Chairman of the Palms West Chamber's Ambassadors Committee. He is the President-elect of the Royal Palm Beach Rotary Club. Mair Armand serves as chair of the Installation Gala. Together, the Armands are also very active in the community and support many local sports teams. They have been both volunteers and sponsors for WestFest, Taste of the West, SalsaFest and the Installation Gala.
