President's Choice Award 2008

RON TOMCHIN RECOGNIZED FOR RESULTS

Each year, a member of the Palms West Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors may be publicly recognized for exemplary leadership and service in furthering the chamber mission by being presented the President’s Choice Award.  At the Chamber’s Annual Recognition Luncheon before a capacity crowd, the 2008 award was presented to Ron Tomchin, Vice President for Technology at the Chamber and President of RPB Advisors, Inc.

In announcing the award, Chamber Past President Joanna Boynton remarked about the “unbelievable changes over the year that were accomplished by Ron Tomchin and the Technology Committee that he chairs and leads with a strong hand.” She continued to describe just how hard Ron and the committee members worked and how much the Chamber has benefited by the efforts of this selfless, flexible team.

An active member since 1996, Ron Tomchin is currently serving his second term on the Board of Directors. Prior to the establishment of the Technology Committee in 2006, Tomchin served as Vice President for Economic Development and made technological advance a foundation of that effort. Not surprisingly, he led the charge to create a full-blown Technology Committee. The rest is history; visiting our newly designed, expanded website will show dramatically the Ron Tomchin difference!

Not only are the improvements highly visible. The infrastructure necessary for maintenance and ongoing updating are set in place to assure greater functionality for users and greater efficiencies for Chamber leadership and staff.

Characteristically, in accepting the award, Ron spread the credit for the achievements made over the past year. He thanked the Board of Directors and staff for its support and the committee for its dedication and commitment. He remarked that, “this effort is truly a labor of love. I am honored that I was given the opportunity to lead the Palms West Chamber into a new generation of technological leadership.”

Ron Tomchin is no stranger to recognition awards at the Palms West Chamber of Commerce. His President’s Choice Award in 2008 marks the first time that a recipient has ever received this award more than one time—Tomchin was last cited with this designation in 2005. And, he also received the Chamber’s Business of the Year Award in 2003.
