Businesses of the Year 2008

The Palms West Chamber of Commerce has named the Wellington Regional Medical Center and Insurance For You, Inc. /Silvia C. Garcia as winners of its prestigious 2008 Business of the Year awards.

In view of the chamber's service region and business composition, two awards are annually bestowed-one for a business with growth annual sales size of less than $2 million and the other for a business with annual gross sales of $2 million or more. The process for selection is rigorous, including nominations, detailed applications and committee evaluation/selection.

The Wellington Regional Medical Center, Award Winner for a business with $2 million or more in annual gross sales: This highly-visible landmark at the busy Wellington intersection of Forest Hill Boulevard and SR7/US 441 providing high-quality medical care to Palm Beach County residents and visitors since 1986. With a hospital staff of approximately 850 and a physician staff totaling more than 525, The Wellington Regional Medical Center obviously is at the same time both a major healthcare asset and economic development magnet. CEO and Managing Director Kevin DiLallo notes that "though there has been exponential growth in Wellington Regional's general service geography, it is not about the amount of space and dollars one commits to new buildings; the real key to quality and success is people!"

As is clearly evident, Universal Health Care Services, the highly respected healthcare management organization that is parent corporation of Wellington Regional Medical Center and DiLallo are a "perfect match." Major community involvement stands high on the list of priorities. In addition to being President-elect and a Founding Trustee of the Palms West Chamber of Commerce, Kevin is a past president of the Boys and Girls Club of Wellington and has been co-chair of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. In fact, he is living proof of the adage that busy people somehow find time to take on and success in even more activities.

Needless to say, Wellington Regional Medical Center has been in the forefront of community leader for many years. It is not an overstatement to comment that it stands as a major factor in making our area a better place to live, work and play. Insurance For You, Inc. /Silvia C. Garcia, Award Winner for a business with less than $2 million in annual gross sales: This full-service insurance agency caters to individuals and businesses of all sizes. As her firm has grown, she has even acquired major nonprofit accounts, including municipalities, associations and unions.

A Cuban native, Ms. Garcia has lived in Florida since 1979 and is an experienced insurance professional. Though Insurance For You, Inc. may be relatively small in size, it possesses the knowledge and resources to represent any client effectively.

Silvia's community endeavors are legendary. For example. She is a Past President, a Founding Trustee and Founder of the Past Presidents Council at the Palms West Chamber of Commerce. As a matter of fact, it was during her term as Chamber President that she worked with a core leadership group to develop and advocate establishment of the latter two initiatives.

Community involvement with this creative leader does not stop at the Chamber door. Silvia C. Garcia is a graduate of Leadership Palm Beach County, serves on the Board of Directors of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and on the Advisory Council to National City. She serves on too many committees and boards to list here.

When describing herself, the Wellington resident says she is the proud mother of two daughters, Sandra and Suzette and the "doting grandmother of precocious Katarina." In other words, the priorities are in order.

It is illustrative to cite Silvia's stated business and personal goal-"to exemplify the highest standards of business ethics and personal integrity." She continues, "our goal is not only to meet but to exceed your expectations." The result of all this is the development of professional and personal relationships.
