The Palms West Chamber of Commerce,  28th Annual Wellington Holiday Parade “Rockin in the Holidays” to be held on December 11, 2011

The Palms West Chamber, in collaboration with the City of Wellington, will bring the 28th Annual Wellington Holiday Parade to thousands of spectators of the Western Communities on Sunday, December 11th. The 2011 Parade’s presenting sponsor is once again Schumacher Family of Dealerships. The Parade begin will at 1:00 pm and this year’s theme “Rockin in the Holidays” will be featuring floats, marching bands, clowns, dance troupes, costumed characters, live bands and more! Wellington resident and news anchor Jim Sackett, who is retiring from WPTV this week after 33 years, will serve as the parade’s Grand Marshal. “We thought it a fitting tribute asking him to be this year’s Grand Marshal for his support to the Chamber and for all the years of service to our community. When I contacted Jim, he informed me that he believes he was one of the first Grand Marshals for The Wellington Holiday Parade back in the 80’s. It’s a perfect way to come full circle and honor him once again at the end his career” said Mary Lou Bedford, Director of Marketing and Membership at the Palms West Chamber.

This year’s theme, “Rockin in the Holidays” will bring out some really fun and creative floats with several entries that will have live bands playing holiday favorites as they make their way up Forest Hill Blvd.

The parade route begins at Wellington Trace and continues down Forest Hill Boulevard, ending at Wellington’s Town Center and Amphitheater. In an effort to provide a safe procession for the parade, Forest Hill Boulevard will be closed from the north intersection at Wellington Trace to South Shore Boulevard beginning at 12:30 pm.

The Parade day also includes other family oriented activities such as the Holiday Park sponsored by Waste Management and  The Holiday Mile. Join us from 11:00 am to 5:30 pm at the Wellington Amphitheater located at 12100 Forest Hill Boulevard for the Holiday Fun Park, including music, bounce houses, food and exhibit booths and a live concert immediately following the parade to continue the “Rockin in the Holidays”  parade theme!!

Before the parade, lace up your running shoes for the Holiday Mile Run/Walk beginning at 12:45 pm at Forest Hill Boulevard and Country Club Drive. Preregistration is $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 12 and under. The race application is available at www.palmswest.com. For more information, call (561) 790-6200.

The day of festivities would not be possible without the invaluable co-operation of Wellington, PBSO, the Palm Beach County Fire and Rescue and the generosity of our presenting sponsor Schumacher Family of Dealerships.
